Trstenik - History

The first written record of Trstenik is found in a letter to the Ravanica Monastery, a testimony in which Prince Lazar gives the dominions of Trstenik, Veluće and Ribnik to his endowment in 1831. The letter is kept in the library of Bologna. Monasteries Ljubostinja and Veluće, endowments of two princesses, date back to the Middle Ages and belong to the Moravska School of architecture. Once a small settlement of tradesmen, craftsmen and vineyard growers, Trstenik has been growing, changing and developing in to the town we know today. Trstenik has 18.000 inhabitants. Despite its industrial development, Trstenik has preserved the tranquility and easiness of a small town.
